The Law Firm of Benjamin D. Eckman, with offices in Union, Wayne and Hackensack, NJ, provides a broad range of legal services for the elderly, the disabled and their families. Because we concentrate on legal issues facing the elderly and disabled, we are especially sensitive to the stresses that America’s confusing estate laws, public benefits laws and health care system can place on our clients and their families.

Benjamin D. Eckman, Esq. concentrates his practice on Elder Law & Estate Planning. Elder law is intended to broadly assist “extended living”. An elder law practitioner provides the legal information necessary for persons whose lives will extend or have already extended beyond the time when all children are usually out of the house and when regular employment ceases. After the elder law attorney and client complete their work, legal documents have been drafted, tax considerations have been analyzed, and a plan to protect the elder’s estate has been implemented.

Mr. Eckman has lectured extensively throughout the state on “Elder Law” & Estate Planning to many senior groups, nursing facilities, professional associations and disability support groups, and has authored articles which have been published in newspapers and journals. In addition to his legal work, Benjamin is involved with many senior citizen support groups in the state.

Mr. Eckman’s legal practice concentrates on estate planning and “Elder Law”, legal issues facing senior citizens. Main areas of focus include:

• Asset protection and preservation planning using sophisticated legal techniques.
• Planning for the health – care costs of the aging and chronically ill.
• Drafting and preparation of documents including wills, living wills, trusts, health care proxies, special needs trusts, and power of attorneys.
• Probate, estate administration & distribution, estate & inheritance tax matters as well as other post mortem considerations.
• Estate Planning for disabled individuals, ensuring that governmental benefits are not jeopardized or forfeited.

Benjamin D. Eckman’s practice focuses on Estate Planning & Elder Law – legal issues facing senior citizens. Benjamin D. Eckman received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting from Touro College and his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
